Water-Based ClearCare™ Finish
Because of its combination of density, strength and durability, New River's entire Outdoor Lifestyle Collection collection is designed for direct, all season, outdoor use. It weathers naturally to a beautiful gray. We have many customers and geographic areas who like this look in our furniture. Some, however, want to maintain the original showroom look without constant maintenance. If this is you, New River's ClearCare or Rêve finishes are a viable option. Eco-friendly, non-toxic and water-based, ClearCare is a pre-applied factory low-luster finish which provides additional protection to already durable Brazilian Cherry furniture.
The transparent ClearCare is a wood sealer/preservative finish that allows the grain of the wood to show through for those who prefer a natural look and feel, and easy to re-apply once necessary. Usually, one year from date of purchase and every 6 months subsequently. ClearCare, also available as an after-market product, designed exclusively for New River Casual Furniture, is sold through specialty patio furniture dealers.
ClearCare offers several features and benefits over our Linseed Oil Finish:
- Prevents "checking" (slight surface cracks) of the wood.
- Stops the initial, naturally occuring bleeding of Brazilian Cherry.
- Significantly slows the graying process in Brazilian Cherry (from average of 3-4 months to about 1 year or longer) depending on exposure to the elements.
- Easy to re-apply with a brush or cloth (after approx. 1 year). Do not sand unless wood has turned gray.
